IK & AI – A Lethal Combination

Imran Khan is a trailblazer, and there are no second opinions. This time, he is setting new milestone by incorporating AI technology to level up his political game.

In case you have not already noticed, the social media team of PTI is rigorously using the latest AI technology to create content revolving around Imran Khan. There is a surge in deep fake videos of IK motivating his followers to vote for his party. Even though the party is crying the victim card, PTI has the most articulate social media marketing strategy compared to the most prominent political parties, such as PPP and PML-N.

Imran Khan was not bluffing when he said that he waited for a whole generation to grow up. That generation are the millennials and now first-time voter generation Z. With an inbuilt appeal for woke culture and the shortest attention spans these generations crave for something new. The old political norms are too outdated for them.

Imran Khan embedded in artificial intelligence is a lethal combination to subdue the young population. The narratives are being revolutionized. Imran Khan is being projected as the only hope for survival of Pakistan. Even though political and religious polarization is rampant across the globe still it is far more detrimental for an country on the verge of collapse.

Recent social media promotional campaigns of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf depict a strategic amalgamation of deep fake videos and images of Imran Khan. What is concerning is that the general masses in Pakistan are not literate enough to distinguish between real and fake. In the comments section of every promotional video the public seems to be going crazy with the messianic image of Imran Khan.

Will Imran Khan turn out to be the long-awaited messiah of Pakistani youth? That is a complex question. The only thing evident so far is that Imran Khan has the support of the masses, and some people with vested interests can use this populism for their benefit. Historically proven, the people around IK have not always been very sincere. The same can be the case this time as new faces take over the reins of PTI and misuse the image of Imran Khan to create deep-fake content of their own choice while the real hero is walled up in oblivion.
